• I love capturing that moment.
That moment when fleeting light attaches itself to an object in a magical way.
That moment when surprise turns to tears or smiles turn to laughter.
That moment when you feel you have the world in the palm of your hand.
That moment when you realize you don’t.
That moment when you delight in your youthful
spirit no matter what age you are.

  • It might be a moment I’ve intently planned and
choreographed or one that I stumble upon as it
unfolds in front of me. It can be when I am surrounded
by a world of people or when I am alone with my
thoughts and wandering camera in hand. I love seeing
those moments through my lens and hearing the shutter click.

In that moment I know I have captured something wonderful.

The holidays bring everyone into town and are a perfect time to capture extended family photos. I realize it’s hard to squeeze in a photo session sometimes when you have so many places to go, things to do, and yummies to eat–but trust me, it is always worth it. I was able to meet with the Grant family over the Thanksgiving holiday and capture these sweet images of the whole gang. Little Olive was determined to keep her tongue out for me but it’s just so cute.

Are you ready to Partea? No, that’s not a typo—but rather, an enchanting new business that just hung it’s shingle out here in The Woodlands. Pretty Posh Parteas offers a really unique service. The charming owner, Mandy Neat, is from England and knows a thing or two about proper tea parties. She’s combined her love of the afternoon “tea”, her brilliant skills in the kitchen, her affinity for fine service ware, and her penchant for creating amusing gatherings to offer a service unlike any other around. Certainly, The Woodlands has first-rate caterers and party planning services but none that provide this authentic touch when it comes to tea parties. Mandy has curated vintage tea settings along with beautiful silverware and gorgeous linens all for hire that promise to make your next Partea an exquisite affair.

I have been the guest at several of her opening Parteas to photograph the events and I can say without hesitation that they are always fabulous. It’s a refreshing change to dress up (possibly even wear a hat, oh my!) and enjoy the simplicity of a tea and nice conversation. We are all so rushed with our daily duties, but a tea party creates an atmosphere of civility where you just…have…to…slow…down. We can savor the time with friends or family while enjoying uncommon treats like Mandy’s homemade-infused sugar cubes, her scrumptious scones with double heavy cream (because normal heavy cream just won’t due!) or her decadent pavlova. The pavlovas are definitely a not-to-miss option! Not only do they add flair and beauty to your table setting, but they are just really novel confections. These are not your typical party cakes.

Pretty Posh Parteas will help plan any type of event; from children’s tea parties, tea etiquette training, birthday parties, wedding or baby showers, intimate or grand affairs. Whatever the occasion, Mandy can help you plan something that is sure to delight your guests. Parteas can be brought to you for you to host on your own or you can create a menu with service so you can sit back and enjoy it along with everyone (Mandy’s grace and wonderful British accent included).  Your Partea also includes lovely invitations to send to your guests–from start to finish it will be a fabulous affair.

I’ve included some photos from recent Parteas. Warning: the photos are sure to make your mouth water. Remember Pretty Posh Parteas when you have a celebration that requires that special touch; Mandy’s sure to help you create a memorable time. As fall rolls around and everyone starts thinking about the holidays, my calendar fills up with familiar faces ready for new portraits. It’s always fun to catch up and as time marches on between our meetings, I see the effects of it in the little faces that have suddenly morphed into “big” kids. I see the “big” kids who now are busy teens, and the teens that somehow seem to have leapfrogged right to eminent high school graduates.  Life doesn’t slow down does it? We have to hang on and enjoy the ride.

I have photographed the Meyer family for a couple of years now–back when they were a family of 5 just adding a new bundle of joy. They moved away but we always managed to sneak in photo sessions when they came back to see family. The past couple of years I have been blessed to watch their family blossom into a family of 7 (and soon to be 8!).  Their move back brought lots of happiness to me personally. Not only did I manage to gain them as neighbors where I get to see them on a daily basis,  but also because Bernadette is my go-to graphic designer. How lucky to have her and her amazing talent right next door for collaboration!! My clients can attest to her wonderful work as we have created custom holiday and graduation cards with her for the past 4 years. She does it all: business cards, printables of all sorts, branded products. While this post is really about her sweet kiddos, I thought I would give her business a little “whoot, whoot” too!  With the holidays right around the corner, you can also find fun stocking stuffers or teacher gifts on her site.  Visit Bernadette at Meyer Market Designs or follow her on her Facebook business page.
